Ambience defined by aromatherapy

What creates an unforgettable atmosphere in a space besides its esthetics, music companion and feeling good & inspired aspect? Here comes scent, which adds to every place a character, telling a story to every visitor and guest.

Olfactive notes are something remarkably unforgettable, when combined with a special memory. Coqui Coqui offers a travel through time and fragrance to take you to mystical places.

The Coqui Coqui Residences and Perfumeries are spread between the French Polynesia and Mexico, counting a five places for now.

And we are very excited from hearing a little birdie with a message, that there might be a Coqui Coqui Residence in Europe soon, specifically someplace divine on the French Riviera.

It is in the Yucatan peninsula that the Coqui Coqui adventure was born, created by Nico Malleville.

It was during a trip to the Mexican peninsula in 2001 that he fell in love with Tulum and its paradise like landscape. He then became the owner of the house known as “facing the sea” where he was joined two years later by his future wife Francesca Bonato. Both enthusiasts, they will give birth to the Coqui Coqui adventure, a nickname meaning coconut in Spanish.

The little house becomes a hotel, accompanied by a spa, a boutique and then a perfume store in Valladolid, followed by creation of more unique residences.

Nicolas Malleville was inspired by the exotic flora and scents of the Yucatan in the libraries of Kew Gardens in England, Le Jardin de Bagatelle in Paris and Hanbury Grimaldi Gardens in Italy. Fascinated by travel, history and the explorer’s lifestyle, and captivated by the charm of the Yucatan, Malleville started with Coqui Coqui perfume creations in 2003 with a clear objective in mind: recover the monks’ old formulas and fuse them together with the legacy of ancient Mayan medicine.

Driven to capture the powerful floras of the Yucatan Peninsula and convey the exotic and colourful lifestyle of the tropics, he collated an ever-growing botanical catalogue of lush, exotic notes from the area, Malleville concocts fresh, original fragrances at Coqui Coqui Perfumeria, evocative of the spiritually rich Yucatecan lifestyle that he, and many others after, fell in love with.

Each Coqui Coqui Residence has its own personalised fragrance. The dewy coconut scent of Coco Coco is inspired by the palm trees scattered along the white sand beaches of Bora Bora. The lime and mint Menli fragrance reflects the lush gardens of Coba, which has both plants growing there. The scent of Rosas Frescas reflects the town of Valladolid with its strong cultural character, specifically inspired by the deeply religious festival of Madonna de Candelaria. The Coqui Coqui Residence and Spa situated in the Yucatan’s capital of Merida, a city surrounded by tobacco plantations have seen the Tabaco born, a sophisticated warm, rich, elegant scent, much like Merida itself.

You can discover a full range of scented products between the Coqui Coqui creations, from perfumes, linen sprays to scented natural candles and fragrance diffusers.

Our personal favourite olfactive experience is definitely Fleurs des Iles, sensual blend with tiare flowers, a journey through tropical island during a hot summer night.
